501st Legion | MidSouth Garrison

On Saturday, August 23rd the MSG-RRG’s Joint Ops and Arkansas Crimson Nova Squad welcomed fans for the Redbird’s Superhero & Comic Night. We had meet and greet with photo ops until 15minutes before the game started. There were a few first pitches made by numerous character, one being Darth Vader. He was escorted out by a Stormtrooper and Imperial Officer. Shortly after, we also escorted the umpires onto the field. Once the game was underway, we free-floated through the stadium for fan photo ops. Middle of the 3rd inning, we all went down to the field where we randomly selected a few participants to play musical chairs with the Redbirds mascot, while the remaining part of our group danced to the cha-cha slide in the background. We then took a short break and took this opportunity for group photos. After the break, we finished floating around the 2nd level (air conditioned) until about the 7th inning, at which point we got out of costume to wait for the post-game fireworks show. Overall, it turned out to be a great event! This event was on thin ice for our participation. We were having trouble getting in without being charged, as in years passed we were never charged. Took me making numerous phone calls and emails until I reached the right person. I am staying in close contact with them, because they began through around the idea of a Star Wars themed night. So that will hopefully be seen next year.
