501st Legion | MidSouth Garrison

On July 3, 2014 on a gorgeous cool summer day members of the 501st Legion-MidSouth Garrison’s Mos Nooga Squad and members of the Rebel Legion’s Corellian Base were invited to attend the Chattanooga Symphony Pops in the Park in the Chattanooga Coolidge park located on the citys North Shore overlooking the beautiful Tennessee River. As we began to arrive around 3:00 pm there were already many people camped out to get a good spot for the show. By the time the show started there were close to 30,000 people gathered all around located on the grass and standing up on both the Walnut Street Bridge and the Market Street bridge that overlooks each sides of the park. Members proceeded to get dressed in there costumes and were lined up to take there places around 7:00pm. Kids and adults alike were grinning from ear to ear when the Star Wars music started playing and they saw the Rebel Legion coming out to the main Star Wars theme music, and the 501st Legion-MidSouth Garrison characters coming out to the Imperial March. Darth Vader quickly took control of the show force choking the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra conductor Kayoko Dan to the ground. Then proceeded to direct the Imperial March to the much delight and applause of the crowd.

We then disbursed amongst the crowd during the intermission to pose for photos, pass out personnel trading cards and to sign autographs with the huge mass of children and adults. Around 9:30 the awesome fireworks display began being shot off behind the Coolidge Park stage on the Tennessee river were the Delta Queen river boat is docked and the Chattanooga Lookouts AT&T baseball field stadium is set in the back ground. What an awesome night it was for our Star Wars fans having members from both the Rebel Legion and the 501st Legion there to help celebrate the 4th of July in Chattanooga with Star Wars. Good times were had by all!
